Macbook USB ports

I was a bit dissapointed by the 2 USB ports of my Macbook 1.83Gb because beside being only 2 of them, there are actually to close to each other. That ridiculous gap doesnt let me have both ports in use... once a usb cable is inserted in slot 1, it doesnt let another plug in, on the slot 2, due to the thickness of the cable rubber. I have to use a usb hub in order to have more slots available for my external disk, my speakers, my pendisk, etc... with a hub there is the risk of slow data transfer and interference. Overall I am very pleased with my Macbook, as my first portable and my first Apple.
