Apple Releases Safari 3.1.1
Wednesday, April 16, 2008 - 5:48 PM EST
Posted by: Glenn

Apple has released Safari 3.1.1 for Mac and Windows via its Software Update utility and on the Web. According to the company, this update is recommended for all Safari users and includes improvements to stability, compatibility and security. Issues that affect the Mac version of Safari include a change to WebKit to improve the handling of URLs containing a colon character in the host name, and additional validation of JavaScript regular expressions to help prevent a heap buffer overflow that can cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or execute code.

More information about the security content of Safari 3.1.1 can be found here. Safari 3.1.1 weighs in at 39MB and requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 or Mac OS X 10.5.2.
