Apple wants to make MacBook smaller...
Unwired View - "Apple may be focused on reinventing the phone with the iPhone, but that doesn't mean that it has forgot about it's notebooks. Recent Apple's patent filings show that they put their R&D types on one insurmountable problem that limits the possibilities of ultraportable laptops to get thinner and smaller."

Review: Apple MacBook Pro (Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz, 17-inch)
CNET - "The 13.3-inch Apple MacBook and 15.4-inch MacBook Pro, both featuring Intel Core 2 Duo processors, impressed us by mixing Apple's lauded industrial design and user-friendly operating system with the kind of high-end hardware usually seen only on the PC side--not to mention the ability to run Windows XP through Boot Camp. The high-end 17-inch MacBook Pro adds some hard drive space and screen real estate over the 15-inch MacBook Pro, boosting the base price by $300. The $2,799 system (our $3,374 review unit was tricked out with extra RAM) is very light for a 17-inch laptop, and it's a good choice for anyone needing an easily transportable big-screen laptop, although most users will be just as happy with the excellent 15-inch version."

Apple Releases Security Update 2007-001
Apple has released Security Update 2007-001 via Mac OS X's Software Update Utility and on the Web. The update specifically addresses a possible security flaw in QuickTime. According to the company, "A buffer overflow exists in QuickTime's handling of RTSP URLs. By enticing a user to access a maliciously-crafted RTSP URL, an attacker can trigger the buffer overflow, which may lead to arbitrary code execution. A QTL file that triggers this issue has been published on the Month of Apple Bugs web site...

Review: Wrappers MacBook Sleeve
O'Grady's PowerPage - "When I picked up my new MacBook this past fall, there was a mix of joy and anticipation running through the air. My trusty iBook G4, which had been with me through thick and thin, had gone belly-up and as I opened the box for the MacBook, I both missed the iBook G4 and felt like I didn't really deserve this beautiful new computer, even if the iBook G4's logic board failed to recognize any hard drive installed in the unit and I needed a portable machine nonetheless."

Next-gen MacBook Pro to shine brighter
AppleInsider - "A forthcoming update to Apple's MacBook Pro line will usher in a generation of more vibrant and uniformly-colored notebook displays thanks to some new underlying backlight technology. Confirming an earlier but widely discounted report from Taiwan-based DigiTimes, faithful industry sources say the new pro-oriented systems will mark the start of a gradual transition away from cold cathode fluorescent backlights (CCFLs) and towards LED backlights for the Mac maker. Thus far, those sources say Apple has agreed to implement the LED technology only within a revision to its 15-inch MacBook Pro due sometime in the second quarter of this year. A broader expansion to the 17-inch model and across the company's 13-inch consumer line, though inevitable, reportedly remains under consideration."

MacBook gets ProTouch key protection, funny picture
iLounge - "At my house alone, we have two dogs and a cat. And try as we might, they do find ways to walk right next to / on top of our laptops. So it wasn't a total surprise when a routine cleaning of my MacBook Pro's innards revealed (and removed) some dog hair. ProTouch is designed to stop that from happening, so over the past few days, we've been testing versions on two different machines, one a MacBook, and one a Pro. iSkin sells blue, pink, frosted clear, white, and black versions; ours have been the white and black, with white glowing in the dark. And generally, we've liked them a lot."

Review: Track Pad Film for MacBook Pro
andPOP - "I just installed Track Pad Film for my MacBook Pro from PowerSupportUSA and I love it. I was mainly worried about the way it would look once applied. Now that it is, I can barely notice it. The Track Pad Film is designed to protect your MacBook Pro's track pad from dirt, dust and finger oils. It's made of a special polymer and is installed with a non destructive adhesive over your track-pad. I've taken it off once, and was pleased to see - and feel - that it left no sticky residue..."

Sony VAIO SZ Vs. Apple MacBook Comparison Review
NotebookReview - "There are already a number of Sony VAIO SZ reviews and Apple MacBook reviews written on this site, but if you are like most folks only one or the other may have interested you enough to read (depending on if you are a Mac person or a PC person). This review is inspired by those cute I'm a Mac... I'm a PC commercials, and while it may be less humorous, it will hopefully be a bit more informative as to the differences between at least this Mac and this PC."

Why Apple Might Hesitate Launching A 12" MacBook Pro
PB Central - "Hadley Stern over at AppleMatters posted a column last week entitled 'Ode to the 12' Powerbook: 14 Wishes for A New Hyper-Portable Macbook." Like me, Hadley is hoping that Apple has a real replacement for the Little Al Book in the works, and his 14-point wishlist is as follows:"
